EFT for Men with ADHD

ADHD brings with it many gifts.

If you have it you're probably very funny, charming, and knowledgeable on a huge array of topics and adept at a wide range of skills. Although you struggle with the day-to-day management of your life, you may find that you shine in urgent situations. And you may discover that your overwhelming boredom leads to fantastic creativity.

The challenges it brings include:

  • emotional dysregulation,
  • oppositional behaviours,
  • difficulty focusing and completing tasks.
  • damaged relationships
You may have a long trail of broken promises in your wake and a long list of grievances in the back pockets of the people closest to you. And you may have a dynamic in your closest relationships where people lack trust and overmanage you. You probably have some trauma from a childhood full of criticism and disappointed parental figures, teachers, employers, and romantic partners.

You may have behavioural addictions arising from the need to generate extra stimulation. Frequent bouts of brain fog. problematic people pleasing. Invasive fantasies (hey, maybe this is an asset if you're in a creative field that lets you turn this into art or entrepreneurialism).

And these are only my own symptoms! You may have a different array of challenges I haven't mentioned here.

But guess what?

You can heal from this stuff and come out stronger because of it.

My own journey from discovering my ADHD as an 51-year-old adult in 2020 to today has been an empowering adventure of discovery. Much research through books, online programs, knowledgeable influencers, therapy, and running a WhatsApp peer support group for men has been extremely empowering. This thriving with ADHD will be a lifelong learning process for me, and I'm grateful for it.

Now I'm ready to support men with ADHD with the many tools and resources I've gained.

Why men? ADHD generally manifests differently in men than in women. I'm a leader and participant in a men's group organization since 2014 where a large number of men I've worked with have ADHD, so the vast majority of my experience with it is in men. This is where I think I can make the biggest impact with this coaching practice.
